When he met her first, she was in the process of sharpening an arrow. Closing one eye, keeping the other one open, she was focusing on some invisible target. He saw this woman, a young woman, very alive, radiant with life, cutting an arrow shift, looking neither to the right nor to the left, but wholly absorbed in making the arrow.
